Ben Michels Wheeler (1986) is a musician, musicologist, and educator based in Tbilisi, Georgia. His work features musical structures and elements of folk traditions that are recontextualized and highlighted through the use of modular synthesis and other experimental sonic practices. He teaches synthesis courses at Creative Education Studio in Tbilisi and is heavily involved with the independent music scene in the South Caucasus, playing regularly in local clubs and festivals in all three countries. He is the co-founder of Mountains of Tongues, a project dedicated to preserving and promoting lesser known music from the Caucasus region. He is also the founder of Caucasus All Frequency, a composer’s residency that provides new perspectives on the intersection of global/local "traditional" music and music technology. Ben is a resident of Mutant Radio, where he hosts shows, interviews visiting musicians, and organizes a variety of workshop series
