Incarcerated youth capture sounds

In June 2011, we led a music production and performance workshop at Horizons juvenile detention center in the Bronx, NY with renowned brass band Slavic Soul Party. This project was part of our ongoing work with Carnegie Hall’s Musical Connections Program that has brought us to schools, juvenile detention centers, prisons and hospitals across New York City.

Of the eight projects we facilitated at Crossroads and Horizons Juvenile Centers, we were only given permission to share the music publicly for this workshop, as it was covered by NPR.  Listen to the radio segment, produced by WNYC journalist Cindy Rodriguez, here.
