Alexandre Baros, a.k.a Baros, is a drummer and producer from Alto José do Pinho, a center of popular culture in Recife. Having attended the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, he has performed internationally in some of the biggest music festivals, from Lollapalooza to SXSW, and has recorded with many notable musicians on the global scene. Baros serves as a music educator to children with Down syndrome and founded MaracaArte, a percussion group led by these students. Currently, he plays in the legendary Banda de Pau e Corda, who recently released an album with renowned Brazilian label Biscoito Fino. Additionally, he researches percussive music produced in Pernambuco and the Northeast of Brazil.
