Askat Jetigen Uulu is a Bishkek-based Komuz player and composer. At only 20, he has established himself as a prodigious performer and prolific organizer. He currently serves as musical director for Ordo Sakhna, a theatre dedicated to supporting traditional Kyrgyzstani folk music. He is also an teacher at Ustatshakirt Plus, a school and concert center presenting eclectic ensembles from around the world. Last year, a concert of his original compositions premiered in Bishkek in partnership with Kyrgyzstan’s Aga Khan Trust for Culture.
