Mohamed Adam is a Sudanese vocalist who was born and raised in Darfur, Sudan. His experience of moving back and forth between the city and more rural villages made him pay attention to the linguistic, musical, and cultural diversity in Darfur, and later in the whole country of Sudan. Due to the lack of opportunity for a career in music in Sudan, Mohamed studied engineering at the Ahlia University in Khartoum where he eventually joined the university choir. In 2018, he co-founded the Nogara Project, a nonprofit cultural enterprise formed to collect and preserve ethnic and traditional Sudanese musical traditions, through media documentation and creation. Mohamed’s aim is to preserve the musical heritage and languages of Sudan for younger generations, and to remove boundaries between Sudanese society as a result of years of civil war.
