Neil Chua is an award-winning Klang-based Ruan player. Neil is the first (and to date, only) Malaysian musician to earn a prestigious Master's degree specializing in traditional ruan from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. As both a soloist and ensemble player, he has performed at major concerts and festival throughout Malaysia, China, Taiwan and Singapore. This year, Neil performed a new collaborative work with Gu Zheng player Heng Xinyi, 4+21, which was developed from a series of online exchanges. In addition to being a gifted performer, Neil is a committed educator dedicated to engaging youth and burgeoning musicians in his community.
