Sound Bridge 2024
Omer Akalin is a producer, bass player and builder of sound producing devices who lives in Istanbul. He performs both solo and in collaboration with other musicians, exploring various avenues in music. He has a keen interest in understanding how things work, but has also come to realize that knowing isn’t strictly cerebral; he believes this to be the case with music among other things. One time he was offered roasted marmot out of a plastic bag in Mongolia, but he didn’t know what it was at the time. Now he is a vegetarian.
Onur Senturk is a multi-instrumentalist who began his music career by playing bağlama (saz) in high school. In his undergraduate years, he became interested in traditional Black Sea music and began to play panduri, tulum and kemenche. In 2008, he moved to Istanbul and has been involved in several music projects and bands. He has participated in several international music projects and performed in international music festivals in many different countries. He received his Ph.D in Performance at MIAM in 2023 and currently lives in Thessaloniki as a member of the band Argatia.
