Sokhibjon Kurbanov is a multi-instrumentalist from Tashkent who plays the Kashgar rubab, Afghan rubab, tanbur, and oud. Currently a soloist with the Turan ensemble and a musician with the Uzbek State Philharmonic, his work combines folk styles of Uzbekistan and western classical composition. He was recently part of an international music project called Andijon Polka that brought together Chinese, Korean, and Uzbek musicians each playing traditional instruments from their countries. This project toured across Korea, where Sokhibjon is currently studying.
