Tanaka Chirga is a Zimbabwean emcee and producer. A true polymath, Tanaka works part-time at a creative studio and his hip hop-inspired output often incorporates design and visual mediums. In 2017, Tanaka was selected as one of 5 finalists to create short films for The Solidarity Center in Washington D.C., and recently signed with New York-based label Say Word Entertainment. After releasing a string of videos and singles, Tanaka is currently hard at work crafting his debut solo album. “My creative mission is about understanding and common ground,” says Tanaka. “Living in a country that is complex and mischaracterized, I aim to explore the nuances within our culture and communities that can contribute to important conversations happening on a global scale.”
