Yi-Wei Yang is a Taipei-based Zheng player trained in classical and modern Chinese music, as well as traditional Taiwanese Beiguan and Nanguan, and free improvisational music. Holding both an M.A. in Musicology from Taipei National University of the Arts and a B.A. in Zheng performance from Tainan National University of the Arts, Yi-Wei Yang has collaborated with a diverse range of ensembles, premiering both solo compositions and ensemble-based contemporary works. Currently, she is focusing on exploring the relationship between music and dance through improvisation, while incorporating experimental zheng technique and unorthodox textures.
