From June 8 - June 11, 2017, Found Sound Nation produced a pop-up activation in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, centered around our 'Street Studio' model of engagement. Street Studios take the basic elements of the music studio to a public place and make the process accessible to anyone in the surrounding area -- revealing a sort of sonic collective unconscious of a community.

For this VICE activation, Found Sound Nation musicians and producers Christopher Marianetti, Ricardo Nigaglioni, Chris Botta, and Cameron Steele, setup a mobile production and creation studio inside the Kinfolk space and began a process of creating and recording all original music on the spot, while at the same time encouraging visitors to join in. Chatter, stories, and spontaneous songs were all incorporated into music composed and improvised live. Often people began a musical idea only to have it finished by someone passing by an hour later. After these sessions, FSN producers crafted these recordings into cohesive pieces, attempting to capture the energy of the particular space.

Listen to the VICE Street Studio Mixtape below.

In collaboration with Delta and VICE's travel-inspired platform, The Launchpad, Found Sound Nation set up a four-day sound installation and mobile recording studio at the Brooklyn bar Kinfolk.
